Polaris released their 3rd album Fatalism on September 1, 2023. This came only a short time after the tragic loss of guitarist Ryan Siew on June 19th. While the band had pulled out of some tour dates over the summer, they decided to move on with the album release and tours scheduled after in honor of Siew.
The band is currently on their Fatalism North American Tour and we were very happy to have to privilege to not only catch this tour live, but also photograph it when they rolled into The Fillmore Charlotte this past week on October 25th. The show was originally scheduled to take place next door at The Underground, but was upgraded to the larger Fillmore after selling out quickly. Which this tour has seen a lot of, they’ve been selling out venues all tour. Everyone’s excited to not only see Polaris return to North America for a tour, but they brought along one hell of a line up with them!
Paledusk has been opening up all of the shows on this tour. Paledusk is from Japan and while they have toured with Polaris in Australia, this is actually their first U.S. tour and they absolutely slayed it when we saw them. They also brought along some metalcore favorites, Varials and Currents, who would fill the rest of the opening spots. Each band had the crowd pumped and so ready to see Polaris.
When Polaris hit the stage, they dove straight into “Harbinger” and then flew into “Nightmare” immediately after. Both off of their latest album Fatalism. This crowd never stopped moving. Polaris did slow it down for a bit a little later in the show. They would stop and talk about Ryan Siew and discuss mental illnesses. They were really very inspiring and uplifting before playing “Martyr” which they dedicated to Siew and everyone in attendance going through similar battles.
In total, the band treated the audience to a 15-song setlist and we loved every minute of it. The tour is set to run through November 5th, so you still have some time to catch a date. For a full list of remaining tour dates, visit: https://www.polarisaus.com/
