Hailing from Guelph, ON, three-piece garage-power-pop trio Royal Castles are sharing a new EP entitled Singles Night. Featuring the head-bopping focus track, “I Don’t Think I Like You,” you can stream Singles Night in full HERE. Watch the official “I Don’t Think I Like You” music video (directed by Dustin SeabrookHERE.

Singles Night is a five track EP. In the era of streaming where every song is its own piece of content, the idea was to release each of the five tracks as singles. So why not call it out in the name? Lyrically these songs mark a shift towards storytelling and allegory. We have also upped the production level to craft poppier, catchier tunes (we hope).

Royal Castles blend riffy guitar licks, wooly bass and ear-candified harmonies. Their sophomore album, Just The Hits, was released in 2021 and recorded at North Of Princess Studio with producer Zane Whitfield (Glorious Sons, Blue Stones). The trio reunited with Whitfield for Singles Night.

A summer jam for a summer drive, [“I Don’t Think I Like You”] is ripe with groove and irony. This feel good, feel bad tune blends influences from the Smashing Pumpkins and Robyn. Its hypnotic duo bass lines weave around the sparse, hooky vocal phrasing, all while confessing that sometimes you just don’t like someone.

The concept of the [“I Don’t Think I Like You”] video is the brainchild of our director/collaborator/pal, Dustin Seabrook. While also contributing musically to the track, he developed the idea for the video. We decided to give full creative control to Dustin. We were completely hands off and Dustin created the video with his production company, SOAK. The result is mesmerizing. A low lit rendez-vous point, a mysterious briefcase, a tango for two, and an exchange. We love it.
