On December 2nd Silverstein, along with Stray From The Path & Avoid, performed at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee. Silverstein has been on tour promoting the 10 year anniversary of their “fan favorite” concept album This is How the Wind Shifts playing the entire album in full. Another cool feature of this tour is that the band is letting fans vote at each stop for other songs from their repertoire to be performed as well. Avoid opened the show and was nothing short of spectacular, reminding me of a heavier Linkin Park with the harsh vocals paired with the clean vocals from the guitarist. I appreciated the vocalist’s sense of humor and the constant crowd interactions. Next was Stray From The Path and they came out swinging. This was a special moment for me as I hadn’t seen Stray From The Path since I was 20 years old (I’m 32 now) and was excited to see how they had progressed. There is a certain intensity in their music that I love that blurs the line between hardcore and deathcore. I really appreciate a band that can write heavy music on a Stratocaster as well. The vocalist reminded the crowd repeatedly that they were there to hype us up for Silverstein and that they were going to do so. Soon after, Silverstein hit the stage. Another special occasion for me as I had loved this band since I was 16 and never thought I’d get the chance to see them live. They came out with the hits even playing “Smile in Your Sleep.” One thing that impressed me was how clean of a transition from scream to clean vocals that vocalist Shane Told could handle, he made it look so easy. I also noticed that the entire building was singing along to each song as they played. Catch this tour if it comes close to you as they aren’t finished yet.
