Don’t expect any summer camp bonfire-songs from Silverstein at their Camp Screamo summer tour. Their second stop of the tour, which is co-headlined by Story of the Year, happened at the Fillmore Charlotte. Decked out in campy, camp-counselor gear, the show was what every emo kid from the early 2000s wished summer camp could have been. As co-headliners the bands switch off each stop deciding who will play first, Silverstein got the honor in Charlotte and they did not disappoint. After two opening bands the crowd was plenty warmed up for the main show when Silverstein took the stage, at times the barricade at the stage was put to the test (fortunately it held, but plenty of crowd surfers managed to get past it). 

As the band prepared to take the stage, the lights went out, the LED screens behind the stage played clips from classic slasher summer camp flicks (I think Friday the 13th but I am not a film buff to say for sure) and the crowd went from 0 to 60 when the band kicked things off with “Negative Space.”  

For 25 years Silverstein has been a staple of the screamo/emo-hardcore scene – they don’t have to put out new music, they could tour on their discography and fans would have just as much fun. But that’s not how the band operates – instead of resting on its laurels, Silverstein released not one, but two albums in 2025. The show was a solid mix of both new songs and classics. 

With a solid 15-song setlist there was something for fans both new and old, but from the cheers that were let out when asked if this was not the first time seeing the band, most everyone in the Fillmore let out a ‘woohooo,’ so it’s no shocker that the band’s classics like “My Heroine” were showstoppers.
