SkyDxddy unveils a new empowerment anthem with the release of “Medusa,” available now across all major streaming platforms. Accompanied by a powerful video, “Medusa,” serves as a battle cry for those feeling marginalized. Hear it here: https://skydxddy-traumacore.lnk.to/Medusa.

SkyDxddy shares, “I wanted to tell the untold story of Medusa while giving anyone feeling marginalized something to sing and feel powerful about. We deserve to unapologetically stand in our own strength.”

The song reframes Medusa’s myth, portraying her transformation into a “monster” by Athena as punishment for being violated by Poseidon. This narrative highlights society’s historical tendency to blame victims rather than address perpetrators’ actions. In both Medusa’s story and today’s realities, we see a pattern where systems of power restrict or punish women rather than protect them and ensure their autonomy.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade casts Medusa’s message in stark relief. SkyDxddy explains, “When I started working on the song, Roe v. Wade had already been overturned. I’ve felt frustration and rage about how women are treated since the first time I experienced sexual assault. The current climate reinforces Medusa’s message. In a world where men jokingly use phrases like ‘your body, my choice,’ women need to know they have every right to fight back against the idea that our bodies don’t belong to us.”

Medusa’s story is a powerful lens through which to view these issues. “Rose-colored glasses are powerful. And people love to put them on to avoid hard conversations, protect social status, or avoid reflecting on who they’ve chosen to trust and associate with,” says Sky.

In 2024, SkyDxddy teamed up with Citizen Soldier for the intense and heartfelt song “Heavy,” which ranked #5 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Digital Song Sales and reached #2 on iTunes’ rock chart, with a #19 debut on the Top 200 and over 4.5 million streams on Spotify alone. An authentic and vulnerable genre-jumper, SkyDxddy continues to deliver hard-edged, thought-provoking alt-pop. As a pioneer of the Traumacore movement in music, she uses her art to navigate her mental health journey, healing from trauma through filterless anthems of honesty and empowerment.

Between writing and recording, she spent most of 2024 touring relentlessly, sharing the bill with We Three, Icon For Hire, and Citizen Soldier. SkyDxddy is currently putting the finishing touches on her debut album, slated for release in 2025 via It Goes Up Entertainment/Compound Interest.
