Sugar Bones is a band with a unique sound that combines funk, rock, disco, and hints of soul. Their music has raw emotions that captivate audiences. While the band is just getting started, they are quickly becoming part of the northwest music scene. “Sugar Bones, the meaning behind the name is talking about those skeletons in your closet with a little bit of sugar on top,” said the lead singer of Sugar Bones, Corrin Cruz. “We’re a couple of transplants. We’re definitely a band from Seattle, I think that our sound shows that we’re not from here.” “Rock, Funk, Disco, and a little bit of jazz, too,” said Sugar Bones guitar player Alejandro Castro. Cruz brings her powerful vocals and lyrics to tell stories inspired by life’s lessons, sometimes comical but always with a profound meaning to them. Like their latest song, “You Make Me Bad,” from their anticipated self-titled “Sugar Bones” EP. “’You Make Me Bad’ is kind of a tribute anthem to my love for alcohol,” said Cruz. “Making fun of the fact that it is something that I loved very much, but it made me very, very bad.” “The songs tell a story that’s relatable in a very abstract way,” said bass player Ragav Venkatesan. Guitar player Alejandro Castro brings a Latin flair and inventive riffs that elevate their music. Drummer Trevor Sellman drives the band with his infectious energy, and bass player Ragav Venkatesan brings influences from Indian classical music to metal rock. “People like the weird, unusual sound that we give,” Cruz said. Their energy and unique sound earned them the spot to be the musical act at New Year’s at the Needle this year, KING 5’s New Year’s Eve show. “It feels unbelievable that we’re the band that’s going to be playing that night,” said Cruz. “It’s still not hitting me.” “We don’t take anything for granted for the short time that we’ve been together; we’re blessed,” Castro said. Sugar Bones is embracing Seattle’s musical heritage while keeping their influences to create a different sound. |

SUGAR BONES, a band with roots in diverse backgrounds and experiences, brings a unique sound that combines sweetness and darkness, much like their name suggests. “The name ‘Sugar Bones’ reflects our approach to music and life,” explains vocalist Corrin Cruz. “We like to put a sweet and funny twist on the heavy, dark things that happen in our lives. I grew up around struggle during the early years of my life and it’s important that we can look back and laugh about our struggles rather than let them continue to drag us down.” With their unique blend of heartfelt lyrics and dynamic instrumentation, SUGAR BONES have made a name for themselves in The Emerald City with dynamic performances at notable local venues, including the Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, Central Saloon, and Tony V’s. Over the summer, the band joined the list of notable acts that performed at Orting Rock Festival and The Bite of Seattle. https://sugarbonesband.com/ http://facebook.com/sugarbonesband https://www.instagram.com/sugarbonesband/ https://www.youtube.com/@sugarbonesband https://www.tiktok.com/@sugarbonesband https://music.apple.com/us/album/sugar-bones-ep/ https://open.spotify.com/album/SugarBonesEP |
