The Help From My Friends Tour rolled into Raleigh, North Carolina on July 25, 2024 and made a stop at the beautiful Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. The tour features Switchfoot, Matt Nathanson and Blue October. The bands will be rotating their playing order which we hope that they will post that to their social media so that fans don’t get confused when Switchfoot headlines one night and opens the next. The show itself is packed from beginning to end. Blue October opener on this date and Justin Furstenfeld and the guys delivered a very passionate set with a positive message flowing through it. Of course they did play their big commercial hit “Hate Me” and closed the show with “I Hope You’re Happy” during which Jon and Tim Foreman of Switchfoot joined the band.

Matt Nathanson was up next and to be honest, I had forgotten how funny the guy is. His set was one of positivity and his banter between songs had everyone in the venue laughing. We thought he was closing his set when he played “Come On Get Higher” after which he played an AI generated country version of the song that a freind had sent him. After that he played a great cover of Queen and David Bowies’ “Under Pressure.”

Switchfoot closed out our night. During the band’s third song, a cover of The Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” lead singer Jon Foreman ventured out into the crowd for a singalong. The band’s set also included such faves as “Dare You To Move” and “This Is Your Life.” The band’s closer “Meant To Live” included Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October paying the favor back and joining them on-stage this time.

What a great show! Three performances that, other than short in stature (each band got one hour), were headline performances and each band solidly delivered. It was a fun night, it was an emotional night and it left you feeling good inside. Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October even did a free meet & greet after the concert was over with. How awesome was that? This is definitely a must see tour if it comes to your city or anywhere close to it.
