Staying true to the sound of its genre, TETRARCH could not fit more perfectly into the Nu-metal sound. They bring a primal force with their riffs and drums, they are making their way fast to be heard. This Atlanta based band is bringing what feels like a familiar sound, back to the surface blowing us out of the water with their newest album The Ugly Side of Me.
The listener steps into the album with “Anything Like Myself.” With the familiar theme of loneliness, this song walks through mental chaos, guided by the heavy guitar riffs of lead guitarist Diamond Rowe’s (whose emergence as iconic brand Jackson Guitars’ first female signature artist) that strike perfectly with the vocals of Josh Fore. Much relatable to being stuck in one’s head, the percussion sets its beat to match the rage. “Live Not Fantasize” then brings in the hard and heavy. Lyrically, the song makes perfect sense as to saying that they’d rather be in a place that can be enjoyed and making things happen rather than daydream or fantasize it all, quite possibly referring to their own hopes of success. Musically, it is gritting and almost motivating. Finally, “The Ugly Side of Me” pulls in very nostalgic sounds of the 2000s Nu-metal scene. Instead of feeling the heaviness of percussion and guitar together you can hear it separately syncing, vocals flowing well into the electric sound.
Personally speaking, this song is my number one pick from the album and how I’d want to introduce them to a new listener. There are few doubts that Tetrarch will not be mainstream soon, being formed in 2007 it is now their time to rise to new surfaces and let themselves be heard.
Tetrarch has let themselves be heard and now they are making headway for the near future of Nu-metal. Their presence of this band will not go unnoticed and I hope to hear this on radio stations near me soon. I hope this band goes far and creates a lasting impression for the new generation of Nu-metal heads!
