The Devil Wears Prada is currently out on the Metalcore Dropouts Tour which is a co-headline tour with Fit For A King. They’ve also brought along LANDMVRKS and Counterparts as support on this tour. We were stoked to catch this stacked line up when they rolled into The Fillmore Charlotte on October 7th. The night was one of many sold-out dates on the tour. When we arrived over an hour before doors were set to open, the line outside waiting to get in was already HUGE!! Everyone was excited for what would prove to be an incredible night of music.

The Fillmore Charlotte sold over 1900 tickets to this event and it’s a full open room, which made way for a huge pit! When LANDMVRKS hit the stage the crowd was already pumped up. LANDMVRKS is a metalcore band all the way from Marseille, France. They put on such a great opening set we saw fans not only already crowd surfing to the front, but also with fists in the air and singing right along to their tracks.

Canadian hardcore band Counterparts would hit the stage next after only a short break. Counterparts actually managed to fit in 9 track set, they got started with “Love Me” from 2019’s Nothing Left To Love. But mostly played tracks from 2022’s A Eulogy For Those Still Here. The crowd didn’t stop moving during their entire set.

Fit For A King came out heavy as they always do. They held nothing back when they dove straight into “Annihilation” from 2020’s The Path as the opening song on their set. As a co-headliner, Fit For A King would fill the full stage at The Fillmore Charlotte. There’s a large step up at the back of the stage and while it only had the drum kit set up on this part, these guys never stop moving. They were all over the place. Bassist Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary was not only doing his usual spins and jumping around on stage, he also came out into the audience for a visit a couple of times. Once we found him playing a little bit from a bar top out near the crowd, then during the last track he would dive into pit the while still playing.

The Devil Wears Prada hit the stage around 9:30. After 3 absolutely awesome acts and already having seen one headliner play, you would think fans would be kind of tired by now. Right? Definitely not the case! And how could they be? Have you seen these guys live? Everyone was pumped to see TDWP, easily one of the best from the genre. Every album these guys put out is another banger. The band played an incredible set, which mostly consisted of songs from 2022’s Color Decay. They started off with “Exhibition” and then “Watchtower.” But TDWP still threw in some of our favorites from past albums as well. Including “Dez Moines” from their 3rd album With Roots Above And Branches Below. While everyone in attendance is singing along, they also got a surprise of having Emma Boster (Dying Wish) jumping on stage to help out on vocals a little bit during this track. And while, no one was ready to leave, and that pit never stopped moving all night. The band ended the show with a great performance of “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?”

The Metalcore Dropouts tour has a couple of dates in Florida this week before moving back across the country through Texas and then ending in Las Vegas at the House Of Blues on October 19th. For a full list of remaining tour dates, visit: https://tdwpband.com/pages/tour
