The Interrupters brought a big dose of ska music to Raleigh, North Carolina on May 9, 2024. The band is out on the road opening up for Sum 41 on ther farewell tour. For Raleigh, NC fans of The Interrupters, it hasn’t been long since the band’s last time in the area. They were at this same venue on June 21, 2022 opening up for Flogging Molly. Right after the classic “Ghost Town” by The Specials played over the PA system, the band hit the stage with “Take Back The Power.” Aimee Interrupter is such a great front person. I love how she engages with the crowd, especially when she shes a young fan close to the stage singing word for word. That same scenario happened near the beginning of this show and she went right over to that little girl and was singing word for word with her. The look on that little girl’s face was priceless and a moment that she will remember for the rest of her life. I also loved the energy of guitarist Kevin Bivona and bassist Justin Bivona. The guys are all over the stage and are like Michael Jordan with their massive jumps! The setlist spanned the band’s career with four tracks coming off of their latest album In The Wild, which is two years old now. The band was releasing new stuff every two years , but this almost took them four. How long will we have to wait for a new album? Time will tell! The setlist (which you can see after the photo gallery) also contained covers of Bob Marley, The Outfield and Billie Eilish songs. It was another party from the band and they never fail to disappoint from the minute they hit the stage until the end. I “accidentally” caught the band on the Warped Tour back in 2016 when a band canceled out on my interview with them. When I exited the media area, I heard a band playing at the stage closest to me. I got my camera out, made my way to the stage and started taking pix. I immediately fell in love with the band and have been hooked ever since. So, a huge thank you to the band, who shall remain nameless, who canceled our interview. You need to go see The Interrupters in concert if they ever come to your area. You can thank me later!
