Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Andrea Verdi from A Crime Called…
How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time? Have you been working on new music?
The pandemic is forcing all of us, even here in Italy, to live in isolation and to hang out with people as little as possible. Fortunately I manage, once a week, to work on new songs. I finished 2 and am working on 3 more. if the situation does not change and it is not possible to play live, I will try to release a mini ep in the Summer / Autumn.
1. 5 albums that changed your life
My first rock album is Live at the Hollywood Bowl by THE DOORS. It struck me, it made me discover the music that would accompany me for the rest of my days
Second is TEN, by PEARL JAM. I was a teenager and grunge revolutionized music with its distorted, dirty and deeply true sound.
Third MAKE YOURSELF by INCUBUS. The new millennium was upon us and with it the new rock, the new music
Fourth a collection of STING & POLICE. a friend had lent me the record. I listened to it for the first time and from that moment on, I’ve listened to it forever!
Fifth RUBBER SOUL by THE BEATLES. threw me into the infinite universe of the four of Liverpool
2. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.
STING, one of the greatest writers of all time.
MICHAEL JORDAN, made basketball a pop culture phenomenon. if he is not an artist …
QUENTIN TARANTINO. I’ve followed him since the release of Reservoir Dogs. A person free from all schemes.
JIM LEE. amazing designer. Think, he had to be an engineer, he took a year to try his hand at drawing and became the cult character he is now.
GALILEO: he revolutionized the world, science, astronomy and ended up in prison because they didn’t agree with him. However, he never renounced his theories. CRAZY
