While live music and touring were on lockdown, fans as well as artists were going through some major withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists. What we came up with is  something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. We cover artists from all around the globe and these are not your typical interview questions, so this gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with A Permanent Shadow.

1. How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time?

It’s been pretty OK actually. I live in Barcelona and I guess we were not locked down as severely as other countries, so in 2021 it was pretty much back to normal except for a few minor restrictions.

2. Have you been working on new music?

I wrote lots of songs during the pandemic, especially in 2020 when you couldn’t do much. I read a lot and that inspired me to write new lyrics. I also listened to a lot of music, which gave me a few ideas regarding covers, and as a result we’ll soon be back in the studio recording a covers EP.

Let’s Dance by David Bowie – the record that got me hooked onto music

The Idiot by Iggy Pop – one of the best albums of all times

Dusk by The The – some of the best lyrics ever written

4. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.

David Bowie

Dope, Rock’n’Roll and Fucking In The Streets by The Godfathers

6. Life on the road; 5 of the craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories

A drugged up guitar player passing out on stage after sabotaging the gig by constantly playing the wrong song

Me drinking a vast amount of tea to soothe my voice before going on stage and having to deal with an exploding bladder throughout the gig

Performing a filmed live in studio set in shorts and flip-flops thinking it would be audio only

Performing a showcase in a laundromat where the washing machines drowned out the music

I used to drum for a female singer whose roadie one day for reasons unknown taped her guitar lead to the floor. When she came onstage all diva-like it was really painful to watch when it took her five minutes to untangle the chaos at her feet.

7. 5 favorite movies

Fight Club

The Wolf of Wallstreet

The Man Who Fell To Earth

Snatch

Purple Violets
