While live music and touring were on lockdown, fans as well as artists were going through some major withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists. What we came up with is  something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. We cover artists from all around the globe and these are not your typical interview questions, so this gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Davis & The Love.

1. How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time?
I’ve been doing well all things considered. I Took a lot of time to reflect and put energy into the things that I cared about: Family, Music, relationship. I also attempted to learn piano.

2. Have you been working on new music?
Definitely have been working on new music. We just released our new single, “Change the World”, we’ve got another one called “Hot Damn” coming out in November, and plenty more in the pipeline throughout 2022.

3. 5 albums that changed your life
– The Doors Greatest Hits
– Songs in the Key of Life
– All Eyez on Me
– Motowns Greatest Hits
– Aquemini

4. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.
– Sam Cooke
– Otis Redding
– 2Pac
– Outkast
– Hall and Oates

5. Your 5 favorite live albums

6. Life on the road; 5 of the craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories
– We played a party at the Playboy Mansion thrown by a guy from our hometown who was later arrested for federal finance crimes. Pretty sure he funded the whole thing off of a Ponzi scheme.
– I once had a homeless person run up behind me on stage and grab my mic out of my hand while we were performing a show. He then preached for 5 minutes before security finally removed him from the stage.
– I was once removed from the United Kingdom and sent back to Amsterdam after customs had decided that we were lying about what we were coming into the country for and weren’t allowed to play our gigs. Would like to get back out there and try again lol
– Once had a guy come up to us while he was wearing a trench coat and flash us…there was nothing on underneath.
– I was once serenading a girl with a song and step back not releasing there was a monitor behind me and I fell into the drum kit. I laid there for a second questioning if that was going to be it for me in music, but I got back up because the show must go on.

7. 5 favorite movies
– Back to the Future
– Die Hard
– Pulp Fiction
– Teen Wolf

8. Best and worst advice you ever heard.
Best advice – “never get less than 8 hours of sleep, never play guitar with someone whose first name is a city, and never trust a girl with a tattoo of a dagger.”
Worst advice: I asked a famous actor when I was a freshman in college what advice he would give someone trying to get into the entertainment business and he said.. ”Don’t”

9. Strangest thing you ever autographed
Boobs and butts aren’t that strange so I guess I would go with a bar receipt.

10. If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?
Handsome Johnny Star…my uncle was a former professional wrestler with that name, so I would just take up the moniker.
