Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Marco Fino (vocals, rhythm guitar) from Guardian of Lightning.
5 albums that changed my life:
1. Kiss – Creatures of the Night, this album arrived in Brazil with the band’s arrival in 1983. I was just a 13 year old boy in eighth grade and I remember when I saw all the fuss that this album and the band caused in the country so I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
2. Ramones – Rocket to Russia, this album together with the Never Mind by the Pistols showed me that it wasn’t necessary to be a virtuous musician to compose and have a band, these are two classics that really changed the behavior of an entire generation of boys that I was part of, as a Punk- Rocker in leather jacket, ripped jeans and an pin in ear.
3. Sex Pistols – Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols
4. Van Halen – 1984, this album caught my eye right away when I first saw it on a TV show called Som Pop. It was the music video for Jump, those colorful and shiny clothes, a giant drum set with four bass drums, a guy who had a magical effect on the guitar, saturating the amplifier to the maximum and mixing it with a modulation that at the time nobody had any idea that it was! A flanger, a phaser and etc., not to mention the bassist who did the wonderful vocal backing that complemented the voice of David Lee Roth who was truly a Showman.
5. Guardian of Lightning – Cosmos Tree, I made a point of including this one, that was the album that most changed my life. Through it I was able to be in a band together with my son Iron King and my best friend Lord Drum besides through from them we got a contract with the Eclipse Records which is allowing us to be knowing worldwide, so this certainly was one of the five most important album of my life, for now.
Also, how are you spending your time during the pandemic?
While we are living this pandemic madness, the band has been rehearsing weekly, we are working on the idea of a new video clip, for the song Sound of Thunder, we are also working to make a concert without an audience, inside a studio that will be broadcast in 4 weeks being one song a week for a month, we are also working on spreading and spreading the Thunder-Metal around the world. I hope we all do well, stronger and more connected with each other through music and all the positive thinking. May the Gods of Metal protect us of all this virus madness that plagues our planetall! and big hug to the fans! and see you soon.
