Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Holding Poison.
How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time?
We’ve been good, the great thing with technology these days is that you can send files/projects to each other and continue to write/work.
2. Have you been working on new music?
we are both always writing so it’s just a case of just building up the ideas. once we then think about doing another EP we have even more tracks to choose from!
3. 5 albums that changed your life
Matt: So many to choose but the ones that come to mind are – In Your honour -(foo’s), Nevermind – (Nirvana), Rage against the machine – (rage against the machine), American Idiot – (Green Day), (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? – (Oasis)
Jack: Continuum – (John Mayer), Whatever People Say I Am (That’s What I’m Not) – (Arctic Monkeys), Axis: Bold As Love – (Jimi Hendrix), (What’s The Story) Morning Glory – (Oasis) and Only Revolutions – (Biffy Clyro)
4. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.
Matt: The ones mentioned above amongst many more!
Jack: Hendrix and Mayer have always been big ones, then I’d have to include Neil Young, Paul Weller and Oceansize
5. Your 5 favorite live albums
Matt: I’m not sure if this counts but – Nirvana live at reading, Thin Lizzy – live and dangerous, foo fighters – Wembley, Oasis – knebworth park
Jack: Where The Light Is by John Mayer, Celebration Day by Led Zep, all the Neil Young Bootleg series, Studio 150 by Paul Weller and The Who Live at Leeds
6. Life on the road; 5 of the craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories
As a band, we are yet to tour, ask us in a year and I’m sure we’d have a fair few stories to tell!
7. 5 favorite movies
Matt: I don’t really have a favourite movie really, I do like a good comedy movie though
Jack: Anything by Tarentino. Also a big fan of Submarine, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Silence of the Lambs and the classic Star Wars films
8. Best and worst advice you ever heard.
Matt: I’m not sure on that one, although I’ve had bags of advice throughout life, you still always end up doing what you want to.
Jack: Can’t quite work out whether this comes under best or worst; “be good, if you can’t be good be careful, and if you can’t be careful buy a pram”.
9. Strangest thing you ever autographed
Matt: I was asked to autograph a guitar once if that counts?
Jack: I got asked to sign a guitar pick and post it to Massachusetts once…
10. If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?
Matt: “The mask” (based off the movie)
Jack: According to a Buzzfeed quiz I just pulled up, “Samurai Cannon”
