While live music and touring were on lockdown, fans as well as artists were going through some major withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists. What we came up with is something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. We cover artists from all around the globe and these are not your typical interview questions, so this gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Stonebrother.
1. How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time?
(Zach) Doing whatever we can to stay busy. Writing, recording, practicing, performing whenever we can.
2. Have you been working on new music?
(Ethan) Absolutely. We’re always working on new stuff, as much as humanly possible.
3. 5 albums that changed your life
(Leo) A Farewell to Kings, Mockroot , The Royal Scam, Dark Side of the Moon , and Are You Experienced?
4. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.
(Zach) Van Halen, Guns n Roses, Mr. Big, Alice In Chains, Metallica. (Although there are about a million more).
5. Your 5 favorite live albums
(Ethan) Eric Johnson live in Texas, Green Day “Awesome as F**k”, Zeppelin’s “How The West Was Won”, I’m not sure if this fully counts but “Running On Empty” by Jackson Browne, and this one is reading pushing it because it’s not even music, but “Stories From The Vinyl Cafe” by Stuart McLean.
6. Life on the road; 5 of the craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories
(Leo) Drunks offering to be our management, having the power to our show shut off by a donut truck, somebody rushing the stage at a festival (not while we were playing mind you, but still), playing Gus’s pub, and losing to a dance act at battle of the bands.
7. 5 favorite movies
(Zach) Star Wars, Fast and Furious, Smokey and the Bandit, Rock Star, Back to the Future.
8. Best and worst advice you ever heard.
(Ethan) advice we ever received was “Play some Skynyrd, man” but I think the best advice I’ve ever heard personally was “keep your snares tight, and if someone tells you you’re playing too loud, tell them to get some ear plugs.” The worst advice we, or any musician, have ever received would definitely be “stop it” or “knock it off” because that’s never gonna happen.
9. Strangest thing you ever autographed
(Leo) The backstage wall of a 100 year old theatre in the middle of nowhere.
10. If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?
(Zach) The Green Bastard.
