Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is  something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with The Last Element.

1. How have you been doing during the pandemic and how are you spending your time?

Running out of breath for sure… but guess we have to stick with it. All of us can’t really complain though, enough possibilities and enough things to do. Each of us work a lot on music and keep ourselves sane that way.

2. Have you been working on new music?

For sure!! We’ve got a new song coming this Monday! It’s called “Cut It Off”

Also the next one is pretty close, we’re working on the mixing as we speak! And already working on the one after that…. so yeah for sure working on a lot of music!

3. 5 albums that changed your life

Tricky… very tricky, I mean a lot of albums were amazing and on repeat but let’s give it a try:

Nevermind – Nirvana

Mechanical Animals – Marilyn Manson

Evil Empire – Rage Against The Machine

Roots – Sepultura

Sic – Slipknot

Still got all of them on repeat.

4. 5 artists that influenced you as a musician.

Bring me the Horizon

Linkin Park

Periphery

Michael Jackson

Queen

But yeah a lot more, but these are some that always inspired.

5. Your 5 favorite live albums

Live in Budokan – Dream Theater

Live in Texas – Linkin Park

Disasterpieces – Slipknot

MTV Unplugged in New York – Nirvana

One Cold Night – Seether

Especially Seether and Nirvana have been on repeat for the longest time, those albums their vocals just insane.

6. Life on the road; 5 of the craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories

With this band we still gotta hit the road for a longer period. But Jan our bass player has had the most crazy tours, one story that still sticks with him is the following:

Ok, the craziest tour story was when we were touring Scandinavia in February, we ran uphill on a snowy road which obviously had an icy surface because when we were overhauled by a truck which really sped up to make it uphill, the draft of that truck got us into a slip, our tour bus was out of control for the driver. From our window we saw the guardrail coming towards us in a rapid pace. We were so lucky we hit the guardrail with the full side of the bus, had it been with the tail or the nose of the bus, we’d surely gone through it. As our bus came to its sudden stop, we could see a deep deep valley on the other side of the guardrail. Not a single guardian angel, but a whole army of ’em were present when this happened, I’m convinced.

7. 5 favorite movies

Never making it easy I guess but again let’s give it a shot:

Shawshank redemption

Green Book

Donnie Darko

Joker

Bohemian Rhapsody

8. Best and worst advice you ever heard.

Best Advice would be keep sticking around, giving it your all and never give up, it’s something I’ve always taken to heart.

Worst advice… I really don’t know, I don’t remember bad advice, I just forget it as it comes 😉 But been tricked in the music world for sure, so maybe trusting a little bit too much in some people, who give advice or plans for the band.

9. Strangest thing you ever autographed

Not much strange in this world!

10. If music was over today and you had to go into professional wrestling, what would your wrestling name be?

Haha “Metal Phoenix” I guess, for rising each time and never backing down. But always with metal playing in the background to keep fueling me ;)!
