The first of its kind, “Art-in-Action” summer camp kicks off in just a few short weeks from Sunday, July 28th to Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at Woodward PA. Together with Loyal to the Craft, Woodward has curated exclusive partnerships with brands, artists, musicians, and organizations to deliver on their promise of a life-changing, educational, and inspiring camp experience.
Woodward, the global leader in action sports, will provide a transformative summer camp experience that goes beyond traditional sports, offering young athletes the opportunity to push their limits and discover their passions in action sports and beyond. With over 50 years of expertise, Woodward has perfected a dynamic blend of instruction, safety, and pure excitement that sets it apart from other camps.
The “Art-in-Action” summer camp will welcome new partners this year with household names such as Vans, Volcom, and Nixon, all of which have been at the forefront of shaping action sports culture. These brands have influenced the gear and style of action sports and fostered a sense of community and individuality that continues to inspire generations.
In addition to partnership programming, Woodward will host performances and meet-and-greets for the first time ever with rising bands in the pop-punk scene. The current lineup includes high-energy punk duo Raue and 13-year-old artist, drummer, and Emmy-nominated actor Recker, as well as Olive Vox, Burn the Jukebox, and Ekoh, among others.
VANS legend Steve Van Doren will hang with the campers all week, grilling on the BBQ and slinging prizes and waffles. Additionally, Vans Skate is sending legends Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Omar Hassan, Ray Barbee, and Vans BMX rider Dakota Roche to be a part of the action. Their team will also host a series of creative expression sessions, including a portrait workshop with renowned cultural street artist Robert Vargas, and screen-printing workshops for campers and staff. As a special promotion, Vans will provide one year of free Vans to one of the “Art-in-Action” campers.
Volcom believes that we are born to chase what we are true to, it’s not that we want to…. we have to. It is the irrational pursuit of our passions that unites us all. Volcom is the collective vision of their entire eclectic and diverse global community. From their riders, ambassadors, employees, partners, and retailers – all the way to the creative youth out there reshaping the world around them, they are True To This. Volcom’s team will be onsite leading art workshops, fun design projects, and helping inspire the next generation. Additionally, they will support prizing and programming for various sport events.
Nixon has been the premium lifestyle accessory brand of choice for independents, creatives, and freethinkers worldwide. They will support several key aspects of camp programming, including the presentation of “The History of the Mural by Zaoone,” a brief education and group mural painting with LA-based street artist Damin Lujan, aka Zaaone.
Skullcandy is a pioneering lifestyle audio brand dedicated to connecting fearless individuals and enhancing experiences in action sports and urban settings. After partnering with Woodward earlier this year, Skullcandy brought to life a new state-of-the-art “Artist Lounge” featuring a branded stage, speakers, and more. Much of our music programming for Art-in-Action will be run on this stage. Skateboarder and artist Ryan Townley will also be joining Skullcandy onsite at camp, leading a resin art workshop for campers.
In addition to Skullcandy, official Woodward partners Gatorade, Subaru, GoPro, and Red Bull will continue to help drive camp programming this year. Moreover, Woodward is thrilled to receive generous support and product contributions from top industry brands like SJC Drums, Ernie Ball, Sweetwater, D’Addario, Pro Mark, Evans, Zildjian, and Gibraltar.
Art-in-Action Camp, presented by Loyal to the Craft, is an experience designed for the bold and the creative that will spark limitless creativity with hands-on learning from legendary artists, musicians, and brands that define action sports.
