Trivium rolled into Raleigh, North Carolina with Beartooth on their “Triv-Tooth Tour” on May 17, 2023 to the Ritz Raleigh. Beartooth was just here maybe a year ago, but Trivium seems to by-pass us and go to Charlotte, North Carolina a lot so fans were quite excited about the band stopping in Raleigh. After killer sets by Archetypes Collide and Malevolence that got the crowd all fired up, Matt Heafy and the guys hit the stage to “The End of Everything” and ripped into “Rain.” Damn, Heafy is a freaking beast when he hits the stage. He is charismatic, engaging and rips with the best of them. Their one hour set was an artillery war of getting hit with one bad-ass song after another. Their set included selections from seven different albums! I can’t say enough about his band either because if Heafy was in the driver’s seat, them they were all crammed into that front seat with him! I’ve seen clips on YouTube where Heafy stopped different shows because fans were getting hurt for different reasons (crowd surfing, falling in a moshpit) but to be there when it happens is a different thing. There were several points during the show that he stopped to make sure that someone in the crowd who appeared to be hurt was ok. You don’t always see something like that happen at a show, so it says a lot for the quality of person that he is. Now, if there ws a complaint it would be that one hour of Trivium live just isn’t enough. I talked to several fans afterwards who had nothing but praise for the show. The only bad thing that I heard was the length of the set. Now, a headlining Trivium show would be amazing so that we could possibly (fingers crossed) get a longer (90 minutes – 2 hours) set. Here’s hoping that Heafy and the guys visit Raleigh, North Carolina again in the very near future!
