Underoath just wrapped up the 2nd leg of ‘They’re Only Chasing Safety’ 20th Anniversary Tour. This tour has been going half of the year and has visited Europe, U.K., and all over the U.S. The band band just finished with an epic 4-night stay in their hometown at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, FL. The entire tour was an epic event in itself. Underoath treated the crowd every night to their 4th album They’re Only Chasing Safety in its entirety. This album was the first recorded with vocalist Spencer Chamberlain.
We were excited to catch this incredible tour live when it rolled into The Fillmore Charlotte on December 10, 2024. Underoath played to a fully sold-out crowd that night, one of many sold-out crowds along the tour and they completely blew everyone away with an awesome set!
codeseven got the show started that night. codeseven is out of Winston-Salem, NC and recently released their first album in 20 years, Go Let It In. Up next we got to see Static Dress. Static Dress is a rock band all the way from Leeds, UK. They released their latest single, “crying” in May 2024 and will be headed back to the U.S. in April for a full headline tour.
The crowd was pretty excited when the stage was getting set for Underoath finally. The usual big platform at the back of the stage was even bigger for this show and in the middle was a full couch with a mini fridge and some lamps. It looked like we’d all be hanging out in the garage watching Underoath! The band came out with just a few lamps lighting part of the stage and drummer/vocalist, Aaron Gillespie, grabbed a mic and sat on the couch. He started straight into “Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape,” which was the final track on They’re Only Chasing Safety.
The full stage lights went up as the rest of the band hit the stage, including vocalist, Spencer Chamberlain, and the full band dove into “Young and Aspiring.” Underoath continued the album in it’s entirety before leaving the stage. When they returned, they treated the audience to a 6-song bonus set of favorite tracks which were picked by fans. They included “In Regards To Myself,” “When The Sun Sleeps,” “Writing On The Walls” and more. It was a great show and everyone enjoyed every second of it.
