Winona Fighter kicked off the final leg of their tour in support of their debut album, My Apologies to the Chef at Kings in Raleigh, NC Tuesday night (7/8) to a packed house. To sum it up in one word- fun! This band brought a palpable energy from the very beginning where lead vocalist Coco Kinnon came out singing along to “Smooth” from Santana/Rob Thomas that was playing on the PA as the crowd went into a frenzy. The band jumped into their set and the energy was a go from then on.
There was moshing.
There was jumping to the point where the room began to shake.
And a little crowd surfing to boot.
Kinnon kept it intimate with her onstage banter and back and forth with the crowd, making everyone feel part of the show. The setlist was primarily composed of tracks from My Apologies to the Chef, the debut album that the enthusiastic Raleigh crowd embraced as if it were a classic of greatest hits. That may be due in part that this album is amazing straight through. Each song is a grabber from start to finish, and the band showed that they can bring that same sauce to the stage.
And bring it they did!
There are still some dates left on the tour so get out and check out a show when they come to your town. But act fast as they are selling out! You won’t regret it.
