In honor of the 10th anniversary of VHS, alt-rock group X Ambassadors are thrilled to announce back to back hometown shows in Ithaca this fall. Taking place September 19th and 20th at State Theatre, these shows will be a celebration of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album. VIP ticket packages are available this week through artist presale. General on-sale begins this Friday, May 9th at xambassadors.com. Stay tuned for more dates to be announced soon.

Additionally X Ambassadors has announced that they will be releasing a reimagined version of the VHS this summer. VHS(X) sees the band reworking hit songs like “Unsteady” and break-out single “Renegades”, showcasing a decade of growth and evolution.

Front man Sam Nelson Harris shares: “It’s a rare thing to be in a band that’s been together as long as we have. We’ve been together for almost 20 years. This album was made, conceived, and released 10 years ago but we had already been hustling for almost a decade prior to that. When the door finally was opened for us with ‘Renegades’ it was a scramble to finish an album and get it out. VHS was mostly made on the road– in the back of our van, backstage in green rooms, bathrooms, hotel rooms, wherever we could steal a moment. It was chaotic, it was piece-meal. To be honest, we couldn’t appreciate a single moment of it because it was all moving so fast. So it’s been such a blessing to be able to revisit it and celebrate these songs and the people we were when we made them.

About X Ambassadors:

X Ambassadors are a multi-platinum trio formed by Grammy award winning song-writer Sam Nelson Harris (vocals, guitar, saxophone, bass) and brother Casey Harris (piano, keys) while the pair were in high school in Ithaca, New York. Later joined by Adam Levin (drums) upon moving to Brooklyn, the trio have gone on to dominate the alternative charts over the last decade.

Forming in 2009, the band exploded with the success of their debut album, VHS (2015). The Platinum- certified album provides an intimate look into the childhood of Sam and Casey, and features massive hit singles “Unsteady” and “Renegades”, which have over 1.6 billion streams on Spotify combined and led the band to a three-year world tour. VHS was followed by ORION (2019), the Belong EP (2020), The Beautiful Liar (2021) and (Eg) (2023), a series of collaborative singles featuring artists such as BRELAND, Teddy Swims & Jac Ross, Medium Build, and PAMÉ.

In 2023 the band unveiled a new song, “Deep End,” which was written for and featured in the much-anticipated movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The track is just the latest contribution the band has made to major films following “Torches” (Transformers), “Great Unknown” (The Call of the Wild) and “Sucker for Pain” (Suicide Squad) among others.

Outside of X Ambassadors, Sam Nelson Harris has had an eclectic career as a songwriter and producer for artists such as D4VD, 21 Savage, Rihanna, Lizzo, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, SZA, and Maren Morris. He has also collaborated with artists including Eminem, Jay-Z, Jacob Banks, K.Flay, grandson, The Knocks, Kygo, Illenium, and Machine Gun Kelly. Sam has played the world’s biggest music festivals, headlined countless nationwide and world tours, celebrated a #1 song at Alternative radio and multiple songs in the Top 10. He has recently begun releasing his own solo music for the first time under the name of Sam Nelson Harris.

X Ambassadors returned last year with their new album Townie — an album that marks a compelling new chapter for the band as they return to their upstate New York roots. Across 12 deeply personal tracks, the group crafts an intricate portrait of their hometown’s most mundane aspects and the community that shaped them.

In 2025 they are set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album VHS with the reimagined VHS(X).
