In 2026, LeAnn Rimes is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her major label debut album, Blue. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 30 years since I first heard her version of the iconic title track played for the first time. I always remember it, and it still amazes me that at the mere age of 13, LeAnn Rimes got everyone’s attention. She went on to earn 2 Grammy Awards for this album followed by years of even more incredible hits.
When I saw the announcement that LeAnn Rimes would be performing alongside the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, I knew I wanted to see that performance. So, I was extremely excited to get the honor to review and photograph it for I’m Music Magazine. On March 28, 2026, LeAnn Rimes accompanied by the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra performed for the crowd at Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro, NC. This theater located in downtown Greensboro is a favorite to catch live performances ranging from Broadway productions to comedy shows and concerts.
The show began right at 7:30 and everyone was already at their seats and ready when the Greensboro Symphony started the show by playing “Oklahoma.” After some short introductions, music conductor, Christopher Dragon, welcomed LeAnn Rimes to the stage. The lights went down with just a spotlight as LeAnn sat down at the piano and started into “Remnants”, the title track from her 15th studio album.
LeAnn Rimes got up and headed to the microphone at center stage as the Symphony began the opening notes of “Blue.” I believe the audience was entranced, at least I know I certainly was. LeAnn Rimes’ voice absolutely is iconic and hearing this song performed 30 years after its initial release was so moving, it was absolutely beautiful. It was also exciting hearing these iconic songs being backed by a full orchestra. I know that the Greensboro Symphony has had events of this nature backing world renowned artists, but this was my first chance hearing their performance live and it was truly amazing.
This was also my first time getting the chance to see LeAnn Rimes perform live and I loved that she filled time in between songs with stories. I love listening to music, but I also love hearing about how some of our favorite songs came about. It was exciting to hear songs like “The Right Kind of Wrong” and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” along with some quips about actually being in the movie Coyote Ugly, which I have personally watched way too many times.
I’m not sure anyone was ready for the show to end when LeAnn Rimes finished the set singing such a strong and beautiful version of “How Do I Live.” Everyone remained on their feet clapping as LeAnn Rimes headed back to the stage for one more song. This time, she pulled up a stool and decided to do a cover of “You Were Always on My Mind.” This was such a great event and one I’ll not likely forget.
